My Answer to an Assignment:

Here's the assignment from a public speaking class:

Discussion Question: According to the Communication Process Learning Module, external noise and internal interference in the communication process distort your message.
With our modern technology, cell phones - computers, what part does external noise and internal interference play in our everyday interaction and what types of frustration are encountered and what are generated during the use of this technology.

And here's my participatory answer:

As I pondered as to exactly what I would address, and how I would answer this "blog" question, the threatening rumbles of thunder explicitly encouraged me to include it under the "honorable mention" category. Perhaps that is not what I should be elaborating on, for I believe we are supposed to discuss the relatively new technological interruptions we face in today's society. Most notably then, are the incredibly loud and obnoxious sounds and vibrations emanating from all those vehicles which from within exist creatures who think they are more important than you and I. I am sure many of you understand what I mean. Yes, most of us love attention, but some people are not willing to earn it in a respectful manner. The saying "ignorance is bliss" about sums up how I usually respond to most of those type of distractions, for if I acknowledge how much they are really interfering with my peace, solitude, and attempts to communicate, I suspect then, that I have probably encouraged their rude and inconsiderate behavior.
However, after reading my article, I remembered an issue that is near and dear to my heart. The fact is, their noises are not interfering with just my mental health, well-being and communication attempts. Unbeknownst to them, their selfish behavior may have life-threatening consequences to their own fellow loved ones. Consider this possibility, for I have experienced this many times from a first-hand perspective. Imagine yourself in an ambulance (or any other emergency vehicle), trying to get somewhere to possibly save a life or alleviate somebody's suffering, and there they are, driving along in front of your emergency vehicle and unable to hear you due to their overwhelmingly obtrusive audible emissions. Did I make my point?
